Kris, If I may add a clarification to point 3: Doctrine: Rules for living. If I may add a clarification to point 4: Afterlife: Rules for dying. So basically a religion tells you how to live and how to die. In many cases, the person who follows that religion resembles the living dead. After all, if you spend your life trying your best to avoid sin and get that pie in the sky, have you really lived while on Earth? I will close with some lines from various songs: ===================================================== Only The Good Die Young by: Billy Joel ===================================================== Come out virginia, don’t let me wait You catholic girls start much too late Aw but sooner or later it comes down to fate I might as well be the one They showed you a statue, told you to pray They built you a temple and locked you away But they never told you the price that you pay For things that you might have done..... Only the good die young Thats what I said Only the good die young x2 You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd We ain’t too pretty we ain’t too proud We might be laughing a bit too loud Aw but that never hurt no one Come on virginia show me a sign Send up a signal I’ll throw you the line The stained-glass curtain you’re hiding behind Never lets in the sun Darlin’ only the good die young (woah x5 ) I tell ya Only the good die young x2 You got a nice white dress and a party on your confirmation You got a brand new soul Mmmm, and a cross of gold But virginia they didn’t give you quite enough information You didn’t count on me When you were counting on your rosary (oh woah woah) They say there’s a heaven for those who will wait Some say it’s better but I say it ain’t I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints The sinners are much more fun... You know that only the good die young Oh woah baby I tell ya Only the good die young, x2 (just music here, saxaphone? ) You say your mother told you all that I could give you was a reputation Aww she never cared for me But did she ever say a prayer for me? oh woah woah Come out come out virgina don’t let me wait, The catholic girls start much too late Sooner or later it comes down to fate I might as well be the one, U know that only the good die young Im telling u baby Only the good die young x2 Only the gooooooooooooooood Only the good die young Only the gooooooooooooooood Only the good die young Ooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooo oooooooooo... =============================================== Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On Earth =============================================== Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth They say in heaven love comes first We'll make heaven a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth When the night falls down I wait for you And you come around And the world's alive With the sound of kids On the street outside When you walk into the room You pull me close and we start to move And we're spinning with the stars above And you lift me up in a wave of love... Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth They say in heaven love comes first We'll make heaven a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth When I feel alone I reach for you And you bring me home When I'm lost at sea I hear your voice And it carries me In this world we're just beginning To understand the miracle of living Baby I was afraid before But I'm not afraid anymore Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth They say in heaven love comes first We'll make heaven a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth (instrumental) In this world we're just beginning To understand the miracle of living Baby I was afraid before But I'm not afraid anymore Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth They say in heaven love comes first We'll make heaven a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth Ooh heaven is a place on earth ========================================== Crippled Inside by: John Lennon ========================================== You can shine your shoes and wear a suit You can comb your hair and look quite cute You can hide your face behind a smile One thing you can't hide Is when you're crippled inside You can wear a mask and paint your face You can call yourself the human race You can wear a collar and a tie One thing you can't hide Is when you're crippled inside Well now you know that your Cat has nine lives Nine lives to itself But you only got one And a dog's life ain't fun Mamma take a look outside You can go to church and sing a hymn You can judge me by the color of my skin You can live a lie until you die One thing you can't hide Is when you're crippled inside Well now you know that your Cat has nine lives Nine lives to itself But you only got one And a dog's life ain't fun Mamma take a look outside You can go to church and sing a hymn You can judge me by the color of my skin You can live a lie until you die One thing you can't hide Is when you're crippled inside One thing you can't hide Is when you're crippled inside One thing you can't hide Is when you're crippled inside By: John Lennon =================================== "The Beginning" by Keb Mo =================================== When I die I won't be gone I'll be living in The everlasting And while I'm here I hope that I can find The answers to the questions Life keeps asking Chorus: 'Cause in the end It's a new beginning When I dream I'm dreaming of a place And a knowing that's Impossible to learn It is here Right before your eyes Everywhere you go Everywhere you turn Early in the morning Late at night Chorus In my life There's beauty everywhere On the mountain high And the valley so low But when I'm dead And my soul flies away Somewhere to a place Nobody really knows When I get there I probably won't write no letter You just gotta come And see for yourself Chorus -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Kris K. wrote: >The essentials for creating a religion: > >1.
