When Christian Assyrians tell you they're REALLY Assyrian because they're the FIRST Christians...and you want to barf...remember that when that turncoat King Abgar was alive...and wrote letters to Jesus...JESUS!,,,there were no Christians and wouldn't be for another century...so all Abgar managed to do...as a precursor to all the Assyrians who'd go running anywhere for "goodies"...was convert to Judaism...just because Jesus supposedly cured his clapp...or whatever. How's THAT for solid and steadfast Assyrianiam! Jews must get no end of satisfaction out of that story and the spectacle of all our Christians dropping to their knees to give Yahwe head. Most sensible Christian Assyrians, of which there must be a few out there, I'm sure, don't necessarily claim to be REAL Assyrians because they were the FIRST Christians... [Besides, anyone who calls Abgar V the Black 'Christian' is wrong: he wasn't Christian, he was a fan of the ideas taught by that reformist Jewish ascene.].....what they really mean is that the area where the ideas taught by the reformist Jewish ascene [hereby referred to imprecisely as 'Christianity'] were loosely centred around the area where 'real' 'pagan' Assyrians, like the heresiarch of the Encratites Tatian Atooraya, born in 110, lived.... mainly north Iraq and Turkish Mesopotamia... these areas were populated mostly by 'real' Assyrians, and these 'real' Assyrians converted to 'Christianity' in those early years, ergo the descendents of the converts must be 'true' Assyrians; besides, the Christian Assyrians are the only Assyrians that still call themselves Assyrian, and have always known they are Assyrians so they must be 'real' Assyrians......
