I know what you mean. Upon seeing him having his teeth examined like a cow I immediately felt as though we had all been humiliated. Don't get me wrong. He was an SOB, but to quote the head of the CIA before the first Gulf War, "He may be an SOB but he's our SOB." I mean literally the long beard and nose made him look like an ancient Assyrian king. Had it been the Iraqis themselves capturing him and bringing him to justice I would not have felt so humiliated. The fact that the US did it is so demeaning. Saddam was a symbol of Middle Eastern defiance. Having him humiliated by the US, who trained and supported him, humiliates us all. --------------------- |
