Hi Tiglath, I just wanna know why is this Chaldean/ Assyrian war still raging? Are the Assyrians still claiming Chaldeans are Assyrians and if so, why? Why when the Chaldeans are so insistent (sp?) on gaining recognition as a separate entity and trying to forge their own sense of identity? Whilst I was working with Assyrians in the short period of time that I did back in Sydney, I used to ask this question, and I will ask the members of this forum... If (as we often claim as Assyrians) we desire self-determination, in Iraq and elsewhere, are we not perpetuating the same hate crimes against the Chaldean people by denying them their human right of evaluating their own sense of culture, identity and tradition? Why are we so defensive against the Orthodox-Catholic split that occurred? Is it a religious thing? I mean the Chaldean split was based on religious creed was it not? I really wish to know the answers to these question because it just doesnt make sense to me. Is it perhaps toward a more nostalgic purpose that the Assyrians want the Chaldeans to be tied to them in every way? Is it because the majority of "Assyrians" in North Iraq are actually Chaldean?
