+++Agreed. It's the one thing that flusters us all...yet if you don't question you'll never be sure and turn fanantically stupid instead and then become a leeder and we all know the rest.

+++Amen to that.

>Answer - We are ethnically the people of Mesopotamia known as Iraqis today. Although our people have become religiously estranged.

+++Agreed. I fear no one in power in either Church or State wants the lion lying down with the lamb...religious hostitlity is growing...is being manufactured...it's a great time for us to back off first...that way madness lies.

>POLITICAL - Lack of rights, ill treatment, freedoms, "Arabization/Kurdization" etc.
>Answer - We have no political rights because we have not committed ourselves politically yet. Due to our religously-based identity we show more loyalty to Western governments eager to exploit our country's resources then to our own people and nation.

+++True...too true.
>
>RELIGIOUS - Our people in the Middle East although of the same ancestry are currently fractured across, different religions and sects within these same religions.
>Answer - We need to respect everyone's religion and sects in the same way our ancient kings respected all our gods and dieties.

+++I always said I attacked Christianity because it attacked Ashur first...leave me, as an Assyrian, alone...stop "praying" for me and making iassinine claims to owning the Assyrian name and I'll be happy to never think of any of the three sisters from hell again.

>ECONOMIC & SOCIAL - Lack of opportunities, jobs, no future etc.
>- Lack of discipline, family breakdown, drugs, peer-group pressure etc.
>Answer - Without an understanding of who we are most of our youth either assimilate into the dominant Western country or become aimless as they are caught between two worlds and cultures.

+++I'm not sure this wouldn't happen anyway...modern life and economic power is built around dissolution and fragmentation...how would John Deere like it if people shared a lawnmower among twenty families? Pop culture drives a wedge as quickly as it can between generations...between parents and children...so that's a tough thing to fight for everyone...but still, some sort of anchor is good when you want to come home...what a metaphor!

+++Not at all...it can't be easy getting Isht'd Wardia out of bars once she gets to drinking.
