Lets make this simple: 1)Turkey did not massacre armenians, they were caught in war 2)they were making many moves for secessiong, leading to distrust of them, like Assyrians in Iraq(no offence, but its true- you have only your behaviours toward other Iraqis and you prejudice of Muslims and "Arabs" as you call them for your situation in Iraq 3)Turkey was invaded by Greece and almost invaded by Russians/French/British, and its joining with Germany does not automatically make it an "evil" nation. 4)My personal view toward Turkey is divided into two sects: Military/Governence, where I do not like the govt because of its views toward Armenians and Kurds, and others as well, including the fact that they consider themselves to be pan-turkish in some respents, and I dont like that because turkey is multi-ehtnic The other is Social- by that I mean rural Turkey, villages, traditional people, Kurds, Assyrians, Indegenes and others, that part of Turkey I side with, and I support(at least ideologically) a larger nation of Armenia/Giligia, a possible nation of Kurdistan, Maost concessions, and even other lands that could be "carved up," since although the government is "legitimate" I believe strongly for the existence of other nations therein. In general, yes people have died, although I do not believe it was really a planned genocide, and although I seem to take the side of the Turks, I have to say I am pro-Armenian, and I am supportive of the fact the the Greeks invaded Turkey after world war one, and greatly dissappointed that old Smyrna could not be kept, although it was due to the invasion of the Greeks, and that Ionia could not be freed in this time, and any weakening of Turkey I welcome, since it spells confusion and disorganisation in the country, and therefore possibility for political disunity, and perhaps hundreds of years down the road even new nations, perhaps based on old foundations. So although I appear to be on the side against you in what you say, I am along wiht you in heart, for similar reasons as yours, although I am not Assyrian- since I am referring to broader issues in Turkey, and my views toward genocide and military incidents is only based on what I believe to be facts, not my opinion. --------------------- |
