How can anyone claim unity under something that's as fragmented and at its own throat as Christianity? Christians have been killing Christians...not just infidels, for centuries over meaningless distinctions. You'd think a god who created the universe and everythng in it could have communicated his friggin message to his own creations in such a way as to leave little room for doubt as to what the hell he meant. Instead he seems to have left a shitload of ambigity that has to be cleared up at the point of a sword, gallows or machine gun and we still haven't gotten it right.

Take "Thou Shalt Not Kill", which obvously the Hebrews got from someone else. You'd think those four words couldn't be more plain and easy to understand. We're the ones who added the codiclis and amendements and exceptions and all the ready made excuses and justifications till you'd be damned if you could see any difference, in practical terms, if the commandment had said "Thou Shalt Kill Every Chance Thou Gats".

It wasn't bad enough we became Chrstians but we took to becomming different kinds of Christians each with his own reason to mistrust the other one who's obviously livng in error. Add that to the diffferent cultures we've lived among and the various governing bodies over us, the national feuds and prejudices that lit fires under us and its no wonder we've made of Assyria a real Tower of Babble this time around.

You can't "unify" under Christianity...it's become a contradiction in terms. When you go wandering the earth you'd better have one central belief system or you become what we are..."belief-o-the-month". People now use the term "Unity" as another bludgeon to bash each other with as in, "you're denying the chance for Unity by...." There isn't a Christian country on earth that's unified under god. They're all screaming at each other and killing their children "under god". It's even becomming difficult to get unified as Americans and because of this god crap too. We're developing a Party of God right here in the US of A. American is eyeing American warily. It's the politics of the "Other" and no one plays that card better than Repubs...no one. It's "divide and conquer" used on the very fabric of your own nation and in the long haul it's a recipe for disasater...but then so is nuclear proliferation, deforrestation, jobs and corporate addresses overseas...and a host of things that bring immediate gratification to this big slob of a baby called American Bidness.

It would be a miracle if we unified under Ashur ever again...but Christianity? Feggeddaboutit.
