Alexander The Great beats the Persians in the 4th Century who a few centuries earlier beat the Assyrians and incorporated and absorbed all they could from them as Alexander himself became influenced by the Persians he defeated...then he dies and leaves one of his generals, Seleucus, in charge of Syria and Mesopotamia and we get the Selucid Empire until the Romans beat everybody else and take over there and in Egypt where another general of Alex's, Ptolomey, has set up a dynasty, and then the Romans kill Christ but find a way to to use his corpse so they become Christian and force everyone else to as well and branch out to Byzantium where they establish a second Christian Empire to go with the one in Rome and together they slaughter as many as they need to while baptizing the orphans and begin persecuting other Christians for being Heretics, enslaving parents and raising their children as Christians...and they go on happily like this till they "spread" Christianity everywhere their armies reach and the Byzantine Emperors set their sights on Arabia but before they can get there, a new knock-off of Judaism is born and Muhammad's armies come roaring out of Arabia and beat the crap out of the Christian Emperor, much to the relief of the Christians living in his path who know what the Romans are going to do them for being the wrong kinds of Christians..as they've already killed all Jews they couldn't forcibly convert. Islam is a new religion, too new to have anything but one orthodox viewpoint whereas the Christian Romans are already 400 years old and have been killing each other and liking it over religious fine points that still make you dizzy if you try too hard to understand them...and so Islam seems pure and simple and easy to follow...as the word Islam means to submit to Allah and so far there is only one interpretation of what that means and they won't go nuts themselves till Alli and Omar are murdered. Just how many Arab Muslims were in the "horde" that came out of Arabia? Not all Arabs were Muslims, even then...and just how large a population could the few desert towns in southern Arabia support? Besides Mecca and Medina and a few other mud hut cities and a collection of tent villages...how many soldiers could there have been? However many there were there could not have been enough for them to confront the Roman Empire, sweep it aside and go on all the way across Africa and into Europe...obviously they picked up sincere and devoted converts as they went along. An army on the move, through hostile territory, cannot simply force men to fight for it, too easy for them slip away and return home...rather they must believe in it's cause, make it their own. In those days every army that moved through a region stole in order to supply its needs...the Crusaders themseles were hated and feared for this reason by Christian communities on their path to the Holy Land. The Romans were used to enslaving entire populations and stealing what they needed and burning down the rest. This tactic would not do for the Muslim army that had no rich capitol or home base to fall back on but was living more as nomads moving through new territory who could not afford to make enemies uneccesarily and needed all the recruits they could get...and apparently they got them. Often enough the Muslims were greeted as liberators and as Lord Kinross points out, when they settled Mesopotamia they forced the warring Christian denomiations there into a truce and civil law was established and some measure of peace...and the common man and woman was grateful...their prelates and bishops were not and THEY are the ones who wrote those manuscripts the boys get all their mis-information from. Being kept from encouraging one Christian flock to crack the heads of another Chrstian flock over religious absurdiies is what their Bishops would call "suppressing" Christian Beliefs. Persisting in breaking the peace could get the person inciting civil unrest thrown into jail and even executed as often enough these Christian fine points led to people on either side getting killed...and this would be seen by the Muslim governors charged with maintaining law and order as criminal acts engaged in by criminals, there are lots of Christian and Muslim criminals...the chiefest ones being the ringleaders..who went to prison or the gallows and then to Glory as martyrs and saints for Jesus when they were merely brawling thugs and self-righteous, covetous brutes. As so often had happened in that region before, the desert conquerors were themselves captivated by those they now ruled and over the centuries the original Arabs were influenced by the high culture of the indigenous people who turned to Islam of their own accord or, if not...if they too were pressed into it as the Romans forced people into Christianity...they seemed not to mind either. The original Arabs had no qualms about marrying with the Assyrians and Persians and so the two groups mingled their blood freely...as Gengis Khan's wife was an Assyrian...and many, many more of us married and had families with more and more of them...the way we had always done with everyone we ever met and liked before we became murderously intoerant like the Hebrews we got "our" lord from. Together the desert fierceness and purity of thought of the Arabs combined with all the cultural wealth of the Assyrians and others who joined Islam created another Golden Age in Baghdad, Ctesiphon, Damascus etc. while the Byzantines became byzantine and the Christan Romans imposed a Dark Age on Europe, tring to halt intellectual growth by burning it to death. The coming of the Mongols in 1290 and the fractuous jealousies which by then afflicted the Muslims princelings as well, left them open, one by one, to one of the most devastating attacks any civilization has endured for the Mongols came only to sack and destroy and then leave with whatever could be hauled away...and the treasures and books, libraries and hospitals and universities of Islam were destroyed and many a once glorious city never recovered. To the Assyrian people forced into Christian piety and caught between wrangling Bishops, Islam with its simple vigor and call to adventure, must have come as a relief. There is no other way to explain its capacity to grow and flourish over such a vast deal of territory in so short a time. The Arabs coming out of Arabia who'd so recently been nomads, merchants and camel herders, living in simple supersition in cities that had very little in the way of adornment or refined culture could not have built the glories of Islamic art and architecture, science, medicine, astronomy, chemistry literature and mathematics on their own...and neither did the Assyrians merely act the part of barefoot monks interpreting for them...our people joined up with and helped build with their own hands Islamic military might and culture...which was the highest in the Medeival World largely because of our infuence..now freed from the joy-in-humiliation Christianity brought to us. Those who remained Christian indeed stayed up in those villages from where today we still get the most ignorant and backward louts who carry on the grudge against Islam, not for usurping anything or persecuting them, for no one has ever persecuted Christians as much and murdered them too as have other Christians...but for winning the hearts and minds of their brothers and sisters. And they STILL react that way today if a family member marries one of them...or makes friends among them...or works with them and achieves anything of note that advances the cause of Islam...like Tariq Azziz or Dr. Donny George...and even my own father...who are all called traitors and sell-outs by these villagers of ours. Traitors to what? Why to Christ of course...which is the way they reacted to the Assyrians who adopted Islam, forgetting that they themselves betrayed Ashur...They hated their own people and still do because they "betrayed" Christ and they've never forgiven them for it and would still just as soon see them all dead and the country destroyed than live in peace as good neighbors. Our boys are the ones who fit the definition, the actual definition, of traitors for they encourage foreign enemies to attack their own homelands...in their keeping faith with Christ, to whom they feel murderously loyal, they break faith with and betray their own countries, neighbors and fellow countrymen and women...and their chidren as well. And the meanest thing they do is hide all this rottenness behind an Assyrian identity they know nothing of and are as glad as they can be to no longer be a part of. They have no loyalty to Ashur...they broke faith with him...they have no loyalty to their countreis of origin and the citizens there and broke faith with them several times...and all of this is done for the same Christian denomintions they were fighting over and between hundreds of years ago. The best thing that can happen is for this religon, narrowed down by now to its most idiotic adherents, to be driven out. Islam has tried for long enough to live in peace with Christ. Indeed, according to Lord Kinross and several others who weren't raised on Syriac manuscripts alone...the Ottoman Turks were the only people in history to tolerate and give freedom of religous expression to Jews and Christians...their Empire was the only place the three sisters from hell ever lived in proximity with mutual respect and protection under the law, so much so that Christian peasants used to escape INTO Turkey to be rid of their own Church...indeed when on one ocassion some of these boys over there and their Muslim counterparts started a riot that left several Jews, Muslims and Christians dead...a nationwide ceremony of atonement was held and in Istanbul the heads of the three faiths gathered together and read EACH OTHER'S prayers for peace. And it was oil then as well that shattered this peace...the need for cheap oil or any oil to feed the engines of the Industrial Revolution transforming Europe and soon America...and to get at those oil fields, the Western Christians used their religion as a wedge and a means to foment discord and then distrust...weakenning and reducing the cohesion of Turkish society for the war to come...for when a nation faces outside aggressors it needs more than ever to have peace at home...and for that reason as well the Sanctions were imposed to "soften" the opposition and inflame and demorlize the people of Iraq by starving off their children, attacking the most vulnerable as the American government used to do to the Native Americans...and during all that time our boys played the same part they did in 1914 and always will...from within the country and outside of it they manufactured and enhanced and precipitated any incidents that would show the Muslims in a bad light to the world and set neighbor against neighbor.
