...I wonder, how it was that the Shah was pushed out and Mullahs you never heard of all of a sudden were THE force to be reckonned with in Iran and how, when the same United States had no difficulty going into any Latin American country it wanted...found itself unable to move against those "powerful" Clerics..even though they held Americans hostage for two years??? And did we wonder when we found out Ollie North, Rumsfeld and other Reagun guys were dealing with those Mullahs all that time...giving them weapons etc and birthday cakes...and did we wonder then when the Hostages were suddenly released in time to boost Reagan as the Bush of his day? And do we wonder now that Imams are rising to the top in Iraq? That there dasn`t dare be any Iraqi citizen other than a cleric who dares oppose the U.S. and that the U.S. finds itself hoping to "negotiate" reasonably with the same people they told us all a year ago were hell bent on destroying our way of life? THESE are the very "leaders" the United States wants and has been grooming and will now recognize as the legitimate voice of a society that was in danger of becomming too secular and escaping its own conservative past and coming into the modern age fully expecting to partake of Free Markets and Naftas and Democracy..these are the very people Bush WANTS in office and hopes will take Iraq backwards like the Mullahs took Iran back...and went to fighting and bleeding each other to Washington`s glee and profit. They`re setting the stage..again..for what they really want and the dumb cluck Iraqis still believe America today stands for Liberty...and we wonder. --------------------- |
