while the worldwide Muslim press sits on these photos...the Bush administration wants them made as public as possible, within the bounds of indecent hypocrasy. Muslims know damn well what Bush is aiming at...they know he expects more retaliation..maybe even a BIG one. It`s what they need to secure the Patriot Act and pass several more like it.

It`s a calculated risk, but what the hell...so was the whole thing and it`s paid off handsomely so far. Muslims don`t want to inflame their own people..they want to avoid that group of hottheads everyone has who`ll want revenge. Not only is it morally repugnant and just brings everyone down...it will backfire something fierce...that`s the intention. So what if 5000 Americans get killed somewhere en masse..I mean so what in terms of Bush`s stragtegy. The war of Terrorism and the creation of terrorists MUST go forward..it has to be sold to the American people so they can be induced to kiss their legal protections good bye.

One day Americans who side will Bush will be shocked to see their own children dragged off to detention centers..as happened to so many who supported third wrold dictators because for a time the dictator and they agreed on what special measures needed to be taken against "enemy" children..never dreaming that their own starry eyed children might one day seriously, or just as a lark of youth..say things or go to concerts with or fall in love with serious radicals opposed to the increased dictatorships imposed on their people in the name of Freedom and Security...and there won`t be anything they can do about it. These things ALWAYS breed more because a dictator becomes increasingly insecure as he tries to secure his position, because to secure it he has to kill and imprison so many people and worry about retaliation..the thing feeds and grows on itself..there is no turning back.

During the anti-Vietnam protests in San Francisco...in the very first year...a demonstration turned violent on campus at San Francisco State University. Police were called in and heads smashed and batons weilded freely and many arrested. On the news later that night a teary-eyed sargeant explained his shock at seeing his own son at the demonstration and seeing him go down under a blow from a fellow officer. The father was crying..not sure why.

It`s coming again...those glory days we bring on ourselves because we insist our children attend idiot making schools so we can work overtime and buy the nice car...and no one thinks two steps ahead of their narrowest interest..the paycheck.
