...the huge headline, which was too big to fit here...is TREASON. I TOLD you they`d be at it...that this is all there is behind their claims and diclarations for a corner of Iraq they wouldn`t dare go near anyway. The only thing they can`t do openly...they can crap all over the carpet in public, it doesn`t bother them...but the thing they dasn`t do is come out and mention each other`s denominations...for that blows this whole "we are ASSYRIAN" nonsense out of the water in their toilet bowl of a "political" base.

In our nationalist matters we have branded quite a few people as traitors.

...in your BIRTHDAY parties and WEDDINGS and SOCCER games you`ve branded people as traitors...when DON`T you brand traitors???

Off and on, you hear and read how some people toss the adjective “traitor” as a word of choice to express their displeasure with certain individual(s).

..."off and on"??? Try ALL THE TIME!

We need to be a little more scientific in our definition of this word.

...why? What`s wrong with the same old dicheaded dictionary Hanna made up you all use all the time?

So, my question is what are the acts, rules and measurements that the accused can earn this vile title and for the accuser to justify the right to call someone a “Traitor”?

Throughout my lifetime I have heard this word from many people accusing other fellow Assyrians. Most will offer a very short explanation as to why they deem a certain person as such.

...yes they will, like..."you are traitor"...that`s the longest one explanation I`ve seen.

This is outright confusing. Some people use this word in a moment of rage and disgust without giving it a second thought and often there no foot notes, no exemptions and the word will non-chalantly apply to anyone.

...well hells bells you guys use the English language like a club anyway...why all this palaver now? Are you getting ready to REALLY nail someone who pissed you off and got you into a rage and confused you???

It all depends on who you are speaking to at the time.

...it also matters what you`re wearing...what you guys had for lunch the previous day can also impact your world view..and of course the car you drive not to mention the hefty arms of your girlfriend squeezing you round your head crying..."just ONE more time mah hero`s remnants"! All of these things can impact your politics.

For example, if you were to speak to the Zowaa supporters they would underline a few names as traitors. Turn over to the Beth Nahrain supporters and you will underline a few different names. This same wishy-washy formula has been used throughout our history.

...maybe you have wishy washy history? Maybe you have a wshy fishy hisotry because you ALL BETRAYED ASHUR FOR A JEW long ago and are just catching what you all richly deserve...your own contempt for each other and everyone else`s you meet.

We have good examples of how someone in the western countries with mature laws can end up being called a traitor. They will be branded as such only after proving the case in a fair trial against very specific charges that have been previously defined to constitute treason. The accused may deserve to be called a traitor but first the truth has to be given a chance. The accused may end up being exonerated

...this is all by reasonable prelude for when this guy jumps off the deep end as well. You`re supposed to be lulled into believing that what`s gonnna come up as HIS traitor of the month is a REAL traitor...by¨western "mature" standards...brace yourselves...

I find the word very offensive and it should not be thrown at other people casually and without proof. I know we do not have courts to try people and that makes it doubly important to have solid proof.

...how can you devlop "solid proof" without a court`s due process?

As it stands right now and by marking someone as a traitor we are widening the gap between our people and slamming the communication doors shut.

...okay...so it was all foreplay and no mind-fuck...yet.
