as with all "purist" and "historical" crap you have to throw out the extraneous stuff...which isn`t so much besides the point as it is an attempt to obscure the point.

If you strip Peter`s argument of all the frills you`re left with what he already believes anyway. Aprim is the same way as are most of these social scientists of ours. They already know what they MUST prove. All that`s left for them to do is sift through, twist, manipulate, embellish and use only those parts of whatever they "learned" as PROOVES. They also ignore anything that opposes their determined effort to PROOVE what they desperately NEED to believe anyway and at all costs too. In the end they might just as well spare themselves and us all the effort and diclare as FACT what it is they claim to have proved.

It isn`t difficult for an Afrikaner to reel off "evidence" that he`s superior to Blacks...rather easy really. Peter already believes everything he`s trying to uncover and establish as fact...he believes it because it was taught to him early on and he found it so comforting to believe that his own comfort level is really all the evidence he`ll ever need..as in, "believing as I do makes me feel good...therefore I believe as I do and would be a fool to risk it by examining my prejudice".

The point he`s trying to make keeps backfiring on him though...how could it not? When your entire basis for a claim such as, "we are the true descendants of the Assyrians (who all followed Ashur)...because we now follow Yahwe and his kid"...you can easily be blown away by anyone who follows any other god, besides Ashur, and claims that proves he`s Assyrian too. Huh? Simple minded logic would tell you that if you follow the Assyrian god...you can claim to be Assyrian...but if you follow the Christian or Jewish god...you cannot be. NOT if Peter and the boys are going to insist that ONLY Christians can play Assyrians. If Christians can play, then there`s no coherent reason why anyone else can`t.

The stumbling and fumbling block of all of this is the insistance that in this case being Christian, a religion..is the same as being Assyrian, an ethnicity. If you stick to religion, then it doesn`t matter what religion you are as long as everyone has stopped being Assyrian..worshipping Ashur. But for anyone to claim that following another god besides the god of the Assyrians is now the ONE sign that you are Assyrian...opens the door to anyone making the same claim....and only by slamming doors shut and stuffing their national diapers in their ears can they "maintain" the point.

The fact that they speak Aramaic in the church liturgy proves nothing either...anyone being converted to Christianity back then...or wishing to settle there and go shopping would have to learn the language spoken by the residents. If the French had conquered Palestine and had their language become the Lingua Franca of the MidEast...you`d hardly call Jesus French...neither would you call the French Palestinians. It`s a boondoggle any way you cut it. The only way this "proof" can be maintained is the way they do it at aina..by banning and deleting anyone who wishes to probe a little further into it...which results in the kinds of half-wits who`ve remained, who naturally can`t stand being reminded they ARE half-wits...who can`t argue their way around the corner..and THIS is the Assyrian Nation???

That`s why the effort is doomed to failure and is wallowing in it royally...because in the final analysis you HAVE to be stupid to be their kind of Assyrian..always did...which is why they`re where they are and ALSO why they believe SOMEONE ELSE IS DOING IT TO THEM.
