this is from beth. Just replace every mention of the need for us to become "American" in ordser to thrive...witrh "Jewish"...or Christian...or Muslims.

Don't white people love to see this kind of sentiment expressed by Darkies? Let's all of us become white Europeans...if they'll let us. I say Fuck them...I didn't ride through history for 5000 years to go live in Alabama in my head.

Farid repeatedly criticized the Assyrian community in the US for nothing more that build churches and pray. While that is true one should ask the question what can an exile community do more than religious activities, may be some social activities geared into matchmaking (to keep our boys marrying our girls) and a little a bit of folklore singing and dancing.

Farid forgot that we live in an overwhelming American culture than could melt even cultures of steel and Americanize them. Exile particularly in the USA is not the right place for nation building. May be the word exile is wrong in this context, we are not here waiting and training for the day when we are ready to go back and build a nation. We are here as American citizens, we are part of the system, we want our children to go to American schools, we want them to build American businesss, we want them to join the American Armed Forces otherwise we cannot live on the Fringe.

The recent exchanges last year between Rumsfeld (an American from German origin who still have family connection on Germany) and some high level German official is only a reminder that waht matters first and last is the USA and not the only country which we still have relatives in.

This is not only the fate of Assyrians, Arab immigrants as well (Muslim and Christians) do nothing except a bit of either mosque an church building or prayers and partis where usualy trash music is served.

May be it is better to concentrate on being Americans, particularly for those of us who realy want to live here in the USA for good. May be Farid's kids will get the message:)
