The boys are boys...who never got past the stage of playing at office...playing at war...playing at being heroic etc. As adults they found it far easier to keep on playing make-believe, mainly cause their real choices and prospects were so damn dismal, as you can see... and their biggest game of all is that they are descended from the ancient Assyrians, "Let`s make believe that I`m the descendant of Ashurbanipal...and you`re the heir to Sargon the Great...and YOU can be Gilgamesh`s grandson"... The game consists of acting NOTHING like what you`d expect from the historical record and what we see only a fraction of that`s survived to tell us that were SOME people...and EVERYTHING like you`d least expect...down to explaining their betrayal of their own religion by claiming our ancestors took fright and ran to hide in mountain villages..oddly enough the same places the boys all come from..where they waited in fear and trembling, also as they do today...for a Jews to come give them the courage to come out of their huts.

This is funny...harmless boyish stuff.

The reason they matter, aside from serving as toilet paper for the assholes of the Brits and Americans and any other Christian entity that has need of same...is that they disgust and drive away the rest of us...but that ain`t much of a loss either.

Now that we have the internet set up in their mud huts and they can reach the Wurld...it becomes slightly important to at least put another version out there of what being Assyrian is all about and in the process scaring them all right back into their mud huts, which is all their forums are...and you can see they don`t like being reminded that some of us actually build monuments while they`re still playing...raises the stakes way over their heads and their ability to maintain their fictions...keep play-acting. One adult can send them all scurrying when he, or she, turns on the lights in Assyria.

For the casual reader who`s surfing along and decides to check in on Assyria, it`s important to provide an alternative...just for the fun of it...but for their edification too and as a place to stop laughing long enough to read something coherent.

In and of themselves they matter not at all...they know it and are used to it..they just don`t like having everyone ELSE reminded of it.
