...Ashur Bet Shlimoon takes a sly dig at Aprim...the one Christian who was smiling all these years only to be suddenly disappointed and now predicts "dark days" for Iraq...Ashur reminds him, gently, that he`d been cheering for two years...and asks...what happned???

Here`s Aprims predictable response..dodging issues as furiously as Iraqis are dodging American bullets...

In Response To: Re: Iraq's Darkest Days are Yet to Come (Ashur Beth-Shlimon)

akhoni Ashur,
shlama,

People have different opinions and look at events differently. You did not see anything good coming out from the American/British liberation of Iraq.

...He`ll continue to call it a Liberation no matter what.

I saw it differently. I saw in the end of that criminal regime of Saddam a bright future. We were being Arabized slowly but surely;

...They were never being Arabized..he means Iraqified...Arabs are from Arabia. He means Saddam and every president of Iraq before and king too has tried to forge an Iraqi consciousness, not a Balkanized one. It amazes me how Christian Assyrians don`t see the damage Christianizing has done to them..they just fear Muslimization...they don`t see how silly, childish, weak and hopeless Christianity has made them..they don`t see the dangers of Americanization..hell they YEARN for that...yearn to call their children Jennifer and Scot..and get away from those silly "Assyrian" names..the ones they only "fight" to keep and bewail the loss of UNTIL they can have a Jennifer in the free democractic West...where apparenlty being free to name their children ANYTHING doesn`t get them named any "Assyrian" names anyway.

we had no chance whatsoever in Iraq if that regime continued in power with the strong possibility of the succession of the ruthless Udai or Qusai after Saddam.

...who ran that prison? Americans or Uday? Who`s killing Iraqis in the streets and beating them detah in prison and picking up pretty women now?

In my opinion, within two additional generations (or some 50 years) of the Ba'ath continued rule, we would have had half the remaining of the Assyrians out of Iraq and the remaining half completely Arabized.

...they were never Arabized...Dr Donny George certainly wasn`t...besides, those people would at least be alive,...but that isn`t important to you patriots..just like Iraq isn`t important if it continues Muslim. Those people are clamoring to get out anyway...why? Why don`t the stay and enjoy the benefits of this Liberation?

It was a losing situation and I have to be against it. With the liberation of Iraq we have the chance of democracy, no matter how great or poor that chance was, and that, to me, was worth supporting.

...you were just wailing the results of democracy in a country that is predominantly Muslim...which is it? Does democracy shut you out or doesn`t it? Surely with a New Look could go some New Clarity? Attacking a country and killing its children and their parents makes people "Extreme"...as happened in the United States. Did you expect Iraqis would take it sitting down..or bent over? Did you REALLY think there`d be no resistance..that the sight of American Christians occupying Bet Nahrain and killing and fucking their wives and sons would make no differnece to them? Remember...these are the descendants of the ASSYRIANS...who don`t turn their cheeks to whoever has a hard-on.

This is a political game and in politics things change. We have to learn how to survive by being flexible against unexpected and unfavorable political changes we face. You cannot expect me to remain rigid in my political views, especially in such unusual circumstances!

..then what do you say about an expert who was so damn foolish? How could you have looked out over that landscape and seen better days ahead? Just because you "hoped" there would be? For that hope...idiotic and foolish to begin with, all those people had to die? And so many more will die in the years to come?

I still support the liberation of Iraq war; however, some factors on the ground in Iraq have emerged today that are dictating certain policy change and powerful countries are having problems controlling them.

...yeah, yeah we know...you are inncoent VICTIMS of cruel fate.

As I stated in my last post a week ago or earlier, I do not know what is going to happen tomorrow in Iraq, neither does anybody else here. However, that should not make us throw the towel and give up.

...how about combining the two and heroically throwing up?

We need to raise the awareness of the western readers, politicians, scholars, human rights groups, governments, and all related organizations and institutions.

...you`ve been doing that, remember? And how do you suppose they`d react to someone who still thinks Iraq is being liberated? Someone who just saw a dark cloud on the horizon when every single one of them who wasn`t lying warned that just such a day would surely follow? On what basis would they lidten to you now? Because of your continued idioitc hopes and proooves...in the face of all indications to the contraray that were screaming out all over the place?

Today, I feel that it is my moral obligation to say what I said above in my post. I do not know what else to do.

...you got that right at least.

I know one thing and that is that I cannot sit idle and that I need to do my part and express my opinion and defend what seems to be in our peoples' favorite and fight that that seems not in our favorite, Simple.

...you are MY favorite! And WHAT a Kisser!

Fred

...well, that was heroically brought off.
