It's not like I'm wearing revealing clothes or anything that makes a man stare at my breasts. I wear conservative "business casual" every day - high-necked t-shirts and tailored wool pants, not tight or trendy. It's just his goddamn reflexes that make him do that. There are a LOT of men out there who just think "female" and then think "breasts." What the hell?! What about "female," and "witty" or "brilliant" or "powerful" or "admirable"??? Once you have to deal with these men, you realize how bad it is. I never did until a few years ago.... Plus, it helps to have a female friend to chat about this with - gives one support, and helps one to see the behavioral patterns better. That's why I also recommend that magazine. The women behind it seem to be really intelligent as well as incredibly articulate. Not everything they may say I agree with (a lot of it I do, though), and I wish they'd talk more about political issues than just pop culture. BUT, it's still one of the best reads I've found that covers feminist issues, plus it's independent.... --------------------- |
