..this Pragmatic Morality business. In Nazi Germany, it started with retarded children, and went as far as killing bed-wetters. Today the Fatherland, tomorrow the Netherlands! And, if we don't get our intellectual and moral house in order, someday here. It IS a slippery slope. Think of the most pitiful and hopeless medical cases you can possibly imagine. Now, imagine that those were all "euthanized", and were no longer around. Now, what's the most pitiful and hopeless case you can imagine? In light of there being nothing worse, it would look pretty sorry - a first class case for euthanasia! Now imagine it gone. What's the most hopeless case now? See the pattern? Can you think of a self-defining line where it stops? -Paul --------------------- |
