'Christ's Kingdom on Earth'

The notorious books written by Salahi Sonyel, in which he defends the Ottoman empire and calls Assyrians "rebels" and "traitors" to their "own country" (sic) found here:

...Christian Assyrians were collateral damage...it was the Armenians who actually rebelled...but that`s the way it goes..ask Aprim. All of the Iraqi people are paying for what 19 Saudis did...so the story goes. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11...Iraq had no WMDs...eyt they are being occupied and killed anyway. The Assyrian Christians didn`t HAVE to do anything..they were Christians at the wrong time and place.

..You people keep pretending that Turkey started that war..that it was a unilateral war of aggression the fool Turks declared against ALL the most industrialized nations on earth at ONE time! You forget that Christians went gunning for Turks who did nothing to them except have the same oil they`re killing them for today. That being the case I`d say it was the Turks who were the first and real victims of that war...and we`ve seen that when a nation is attacked.it tends to go killing Afghani wedding guests who should have known better..and then kills 500,000 Assyrian children, many of them Christian..yet that was fine with you...for you`ve never once mentioned it. Shit happens.

Contains a rather curious statement by the author:

"The tragedy of the Assyrians, particularly of those who were Ottoman subjects, who themselves admit that their homeland in the Ottoman Empire, before their self inflicted exodus took place, was 'Christ's Kingdom on Earth', is a story of betrayal. It is the betrayal of a Christian minority that had lived under autonomous conditions in relative security, peace and some prosperity, benefiting from Ottoman Muslim toleration...."

It makes one wonder then, why the sentiments of Patriarch Mar Ruwel Shimon in a letter to King Michael dated on May14, 1868 (a full 47 years before WWI). In this letter the Patriarch states:

...Sentiments of people who believe jew fishermen of 2000 years ago..who teach voodoo to children...who practise obscuranitsm and cannibalism and vampirism should never be believed. If there`s anythign the world knows abot you boys is that you whine and whimper and cringe and seek to gain pity..that what you can`t do for yourselves, because you`re waiting to get to into jew heaven and you don`t want to risk a life of everlasting shame up there with yahwe...you beg and plead with others to do for you.

"... We are a poor nation, my people have no place to sow a sufficiency of grain to provide themselves with bread ... The Kurds have forcibly taken many of our Churches and convents, they constantly abduct our virgins, brides, and women, forcing them to turn Moslems…

...This is the lie they have always spread to explain away the Christians who married Muslims...completely on their own and because they chose to.

The Turks are worse, they do not protect us, demand military taxes, poll tax, also the Kurds take our money for they consider us as “Zirr Kurr” (slaves - being Christians...writer's note)...

...you act the part and you pay military taxes in America to be used against BetNahrain..you haven`t changed much. Otoman Turkey was the ONLY place on earth that allowed all three religions to exist side by side..it was a noble experiment with predictable rough spots but they TRIED. In Christian Europe Christians were killing, kidnapping, raping, stealing from OTHER Christians...why are you so surprised that these things take place...and only complain when it happens to you? Who starved to death 500,000 Assyrian children, many of them Christian BUT Christians? Does that figure in your lament anywhere?

...how do you like that..the fol appeals to a MUSLIM for "Christ`s sake"???

Does this sound like a man who felt that the Ottoman "toleration" was "Christ's Kingdom on Earth?"

...it sounds like the usual crybabaies you produce..also the regular jackasses who would appeal to a Muslim based on the baptism or Jesus! Jezzus!!! How far would a Muslim get pleading with you for Muhammad`s sake? Are you nuts?

Never, ever trust a Turk.

...They never attacked a Western nation...they were attacked by Christians who massacred a whole lot more of them than you lost in Christians. Besides, there are way too many Christians anyway..you people are spilling over into the MidEast like you did in the last Crusades.
