I heard an interview about a guy who wrote a novel of fiction about an America which keeps tabs on its citizens, especially artists, writers, and those who are left-leaning and who travel the world, and how a group of these people, Americans abroad, have to go underground when they are summoned back for "security questioning". The author made a great point when he said that this generation of Americans has travelled the world far less than previous generations... the percentage of people who have never even had a passport in the US is at an all time high... and he closed the interview with an excellent quote. It went something like this: If you don't agree with the direction that our country is going, or with the war in Iraq, perhaps you should get a passport and travel a bit outside our borders. I know, it's common sense, but it's hard to open your eyes in this madhouse. --------------------- |
