“!suggest that you look for the meaning of the word "Genocide" in the dictionary and see if it applies to Simele before associating this term with what took place in 1933, and before becoming the laughing stock of the foreigners that you are trying to reach out to and inform of that tragic incident, because the next thing you would hear would be: Look at those ignorant people, they don't know what the term "Genocide" means! …Well shet ma mouf! We had this discussion…that is, I tried to have this discussion, with Hanna and a few of the boys four yeas ago and they were just as convinced as could be that any Christian who dropped dead, died a martyr and any group of Christians killed were a Genocide and less than that but more than 12 was a massacree. I got deleted and banned regularly…and when I posted the American dictionary definition of “Genocide”, Hanna deleted it and said that they had their own dictionary and they “know what we mean”!! To see Hanna now chastising someone for being fast and loose with these words is refreshing..there`s hope yet that Mt. Rushmore will move ten feet over. Yes indeed, we should be careful how we toss these words around..especially as we won`t shed a tear for half a million Iraqi children starved to death by the United States with complete agreement of these boys who now want to raise tears for the Christians among them..screw the rest. Another major, major problem with bandying these terms around in America is that the country itself is guilty of every sort of massacre and possibly true genocide you`d like to name, therefore they aren`t too keen on anyone trying to raise sympathy for any group..no matter where or when because inevitably someone will ask about the Native Americans and the Vietnamese and the Iraqi children…just to name several million innocent people who never harmed anyone in the United States till they were set upon first or just plain killed under several pretexts. I don`t have my dictionary handy but as I recall there were four major distinguishing marks for a genocide to be A GENOCIDE. Oddly enough, the announced GOVERNMENTAL policy of killing Iraqi children comes much closer than what happened to the Christians. We also don`t qualify as “martyrs,” another term the boys play fast and loose with which only reminds white people of Muslims and all their martyrs for god!!! But let`s stick to Genocide. In the first place it has to be a government policy…and as with everything there has to be proof..no amount of hand wringing and books from Aprim will pass for proof..not if you don`t want to be scorned for trying to get somewhere on the backs of dead people. If the people of one village decide to wipe out the people of the next village and it`s over religion of all things..that`s not a Genocide..its murder and if there are a lot of them killed, it`s mass murder. No one is diminishing the horror of such acts..we just want to keep words meaning what they were meant to mean so we can have intelligible discourse and not flail around trying to work blood out of each other. The people killed in this case were all Christians and they were killed by Muslims..that`s a religious war..a religious slaughter..like Yahwe performed so many times..in fact trying to drown out the Human GENUS comes closest to a failed Genocide, that almost worked…anyway…there is no Christian “genus”…that`s absurd. Also there was no announced, systemic policy to kill Christians…Christians who`d lived side by side with Muslims for ages…as Jews lived beside Muslims and got on fine. But if you take a long view of history, even discounting the Crusades but starting in the modern era with Napoloen, there`s been a steadily increasing war waged against Muslim lands..the First World War being an escalation and out and out land grab that resulted in millions of Turks being killed..that wasn`t a Genocide either..though a war was declared against them as a government policy..it was a war, plain and simple. People still die when you shoot them…but it isn`t a Genocide. Even the Holocaust is in a gray area unless you accept that Jews are a separate Genus…and since with them religion is their all-defining criteria and since it is their ORIGINAL religion, you could say that to want to wipe out all Jews is wiping out a specific Genus…but that isn`t accurate either..though shorthand here will get close enough..the Chritians wanted to kill every Jew they could lay their godly hands on…it was indeed an announced Government policy and it was about as systematic and systemic a thing as we ever want to see….right down to spread sheets, cost anaylsis for the best way to kill and how to recycle Jews into useful and handy items. Only Christians have ever done such a thing…but then they`re the only ones who play at cannibalism and human sacrifice . If a tribe sweeps down on another tribe and kills every person, it isn`t Genocide. It wasn`t any government policy. The same with what happened to the CHRISTIANS…who were merely set upon by their neighbors and wiped ou in one mad, passionate murder spree.. This wasn`t a policy of any government put in place for the express purpose of ridding the country of Christians…there are Christians living there now..there were always Christians living there. This came about as a result of the fear and panic and hatred Muslims felt..and not ALL of them by any means..for the religion that had announced, calmly again, that Turkey was sick and as good Christians, they were coming to chop the “man” up. And they did. We`ve seen what fear and loathing did in Manhattan to Americans..they went ape shit and started squirting death in all directions..everywhere but the country of origin of those Saudis who supposedly flew the planes into those buildings. For the Muslims to get panicky and lash out at the nearest Christians they could get their hands on…for a brief though bloody squirt of revenge, is certainly understandable by all the horrors of history…but it is NOT a Genocide. Let`s look at the Sanctions..those were certainly government policies..the American people did not sweep down on Iraq in a passionate outburst and carry away all food and medicine. Though no Genus was targeted…a religion was and an etnicity, or more accurately a nationality. That still doesn`t qualify as a Genocide..but it sure as hell is infanticide…it`s a slaughter of the innocents, as that old fart of the bible taught his people to practice when there were babies you wanted killed before they grew up. Actually, America`s government policy of systematically wiping out the Native Americans, who`d been pretty much isolated and cut off from their murderers since the beginning of time, comes closest to a true Genocide…it didn`t matter what religion Natives were, it didn`t matter what they did for a living or if they were a threat to anyone..every last one of them was a target for murder…government sanctioned murder often with a bounty to go with it. For that reason alone it`s bad policy to yelp about your “genocide” when Americans know what a real Genocide is…you awaken unpleasant realities on no good grounds…and they`ll resent you for it…because you remind them of what a REAL Genocide is and that they are one of the few people on earth who engaged in one..and that`s how Hanna came to buy a house in California…on the stolen lands of the people who suffered a true Genocide at the hands of the Christian Real Estate Agent Hanna bought from…so I`d go easy with that word..better yet, drop it altogether and never mention it again..people in America will respond much better to “tragedy”..to “slaughter”..even to “massacre”…but Martyrs and Genocide are loaded terms that will blow up in your face. The term Genocide is used when there is a full scale annihilation is carried against a certain people. …that may be the case in your dictionary….and you`d have to define “full scale”…if I don`t ask you these questions someone else will..especially if you get the publicity you want..and if you then make a fool of yourself by fumbling around in “Hanna`s Dictionary of The Handy English Language”..well, you`ll do your cause no good. That`s why all of us should have been sparring together..testing out ideas…getting definitions straight..it`s why you shouldn`t drive away those who challenge you..especially when they clearly are not “enemas”…come on boys…let`s strengthen ourselves and not go out in the world the flabby but cute and hairy darlings our mothers always approved of…the game is played differently out there. A good place to start would be to have ONE real forum…not a nursery or hothouse for people who can`t make it anywhere else with these complaints and whines no one wants to hear…out there. let`s get OUR act together before we shoot in all directions making the case against ourselves better than anyone else has to…that`s always been our weakness…that we are “weak”. Strength, larity and charity begin at home. How`s about opening a real forum and taking everything thrown our way..by ANYBODY..as a training camp for Assyrians? Hanna Hajjar --------------------- |
