I just don't understand why people are so set against the Shi'ites.... My Syriani great-grandfather lived in Basra, surrounded by Muslims of both Shi'ite and Sunni extraction, and lived there quite fine. In fact, he got to know a lot of the Shi'ite spiritual leaders and they would have religious meetings in his home, with him being the lone Christian priest among them. They were very close, and the Shi'ites respected him a lot, no matter what his religion was. In fact, there are Christian communities still living in southern Iraq, and they seemed to be doing quite fine there, among the Shi'ite majority. So what if they can't sell liquor anymore? Sell something else, and the Christians will be just fine. --------------------- |
