It seems that you've taken me to be hostile or something. I don't even think we're arguing different points. You just seem to want to emphasize your take on things. Emphasize away....

As for the piece that you posted, I don't think its funny. Did I miss something? But maybe it's because I don't find Hollywood all that original or their products interesting. You want to see some beautiful facial contortions and women being women--> Watch Almodovar's films. Leave Hollywood to fester in its own twaddle and daydreams.

xxx I love Pedro Almodovar - saw "Kika" several months ago and "All About my Mother" twice at the theater a couple of years ago. Also saw "The Devil's Backbone," produced by Almodovar, a month ago.... That's another good one. I don't watch Hollywood films, haven't for a few years (except the Ring series). I just like that the women in that magazine are providing another perspective on pop culture, one that's sorely lacking in the media. Like I said before, I wish that they'd write more about political issues, but then again, "politics" covered by the mainstream media in the States has degenerated to the point of covering the lives of the rich and famous, not what's really going on in our government or abroad, as you know.

And I am a feminist. But that has nothing to do with adopting "feminist theory" as a paradigm in my opinion. That means I don't sit around and reflect upon the strong phallic resemblance of missiles and skyscrapers and what not.

xxx Actually, I don't do that either, except as a joke. I'm glad to hear you say that you're a feminist. It's good to see that feminism can be defined in many ways. The caricature that you describe of "feminists" is precisely the one that is portrayed by Hollywood and the media - "feminists" are man-hating freaks who are lost in a world of resentment and sexual symbolism, according to the media. Why can't feminists be described as humans who see a gross lack of social responsibility toward many females in our society or who seek to redefine what is female in our society, etc.?

Can we agree to just let this lie? Unless you have something more on point to share, I am all feminist theoried out.
