I don't know what to say. Your response did not address any of my comments. You obviously misunderstood what I was saying. I wasn't even hinting to the idea that you were a man-hater or whatever. Nor do I think anyone needs to kiss ass or flirt to get ahead. I have no idea if you are taking the discussion down a new line of thought or keeping with the line of discussion we were having. If you were keeping up with the discussion, you totally took it in the wrong way. The story of your Liberian colleague is exactly what I am talking about. That's the sort of thing that I cannot and will not parse out from the women's issues that you want to distinguish. Discrimination, disenfranchisement is every where all the time. I commend him deeply for taking on the burden of going back to school. I wish him the best in his endeavors and acknowledge that even after he's got that MD, he will have a stiff climb ahead of him. It seems that you've taken me to be hostile or something. I don't even think we're arguing different points. You just seem to want to emphasize your take on things. Emphasize away.... As for the piece that you posted, I don't think its funny. Did I miss something? But maybe it's because I don't find Hollywood all that original or their products interesting. You want to see some beautiful facial contortions and women being women--> Watch Almodovar's films. Leave Hollywood to fester in its own twaddle and daydreams. And I am a feminist. But that has nothing to do with adopting "feminist theory" as a paradigm in my opinion. That means I don't sit around and reflect upon the strong phallic resemblance of missiles and skyscrapers and what not. Can we agree to just let this lie? Unless you have something more on point to share, I am all feminist theoried out. Q --------------------- |
