the reason for what you say that doing god's work makes scoundrels out of me, is that power is corrupting and saying you have the power to know god's mind or will and do his work, is a form of power corruption, and even those who start out with good intentions will eventually distort this supposed superior inside knowledge of god they have deluded themselves or conned others into thinking they have, for their own self intersts and suddenly god's work becomes the devil's playground (figuratively for i don't believe there is a devil)... the road to hell is paved with supposed good intentions... so maybe we are all damned if there is such a thing as damned.
