Sounds to me like Assyria was the ancient Imperialistic capitalist empire, and that the king was a son-of-a-bush ??? I mean, all that display of overwhelming power and technology, the utter disregard for babies sucking on their mother's breasts, of sanctions in the form of crippling tributes and taxes, the razing of cities and places of worship, the torture of prisoners of war like at Abu Ghraib, and the psychological warfare employed in displaying bas-reliefs of young maidens being burned alive. I wonder if the ancient nations who were so brutally oppressed by Assyria felt the same way about them, that Iraqis today feel about the U.S.? -Paul --------------------- |
