I think Nader`s driving force is to force a third party onto the political landscape and make it as big a Player as he can and whatever the motives of those who seek to use him, he is hoping to use them in return just enough to bite the hand that thought it was feeding him. If Democrats felt they needed to keep his constituency , they might evolve better policies that might attract that huge Demcratic pool of voters who just don`t care. He knows he`s not winning anything any election, that÷s not his aim..he knows the Repubs have found their disgruntled Repubs and brought them into the fold by kowtowing to God...if Nader has to use the Devil, he will. Like Clinton had to out-Republican the Repubs, steal their thunder to get into office..for which they never forgave him.

As long as politics is the dirty buisness it is, any Knight in Shining armor is going to get sullied by doing battle with it...there÷s just no way escaping the slime when your oponent is dripping and spewing the stuff in all directions...Nader knows he÷s playing with ideological fire and will get burnt...I think he just feels it÷s worth it to make a dent in politics as usual...even if he comes close to being to same old same old...

So long as we wheeee the people don÷t demand the changes that are crying out to be made...Nader and people like him will kill themselves trying to wake us up by hurling themselves into the beast...it÷s our responsibility but we÷re all watching the news on tee vee.

The things Nader has said about the likes of Murdoch, the things he said about GM, about consumer protection and product liability were never heard by the American public once upon a time. It÷s fine for up and comers to hold the grizzled ols bear to standards they only leanred about yesterday and then only because Nader had the sense to say them at the time. The Democracts would be stronger as a party if they developed policies that made Nader unnecessary, I guess that÷s his point.
