...I have to say, after reading this, that it`s interesting you cite infants as being the ones to "not see". Any woman who doesn`t "see" feminine issues is like an Uncle Tom Clarence who believes he got where he is based on his abilities alone.

and I always see the classification of genders as part of something bigger, not a dispossession of women for its own sake.

..it would be gracious of you...and any Afro-American enrolled in LSU to at least acknowledge that a lot of hard work and considerable danger went into changing policies in America and other white Christian nations to enable you to afford both a better paycheck..more opportunity and a blase attitude about how those changes were made. Recognizing that you were once a second-class citizen should give you pride in and appreciation for those who fought to make that change...it wasn`t your gender BIRTHRIGHT..it came as the result of tough as nails struggle..and the issue isn`t past by any means..just as no white man should think poverty in the world has been taken care of because HE eats well now.

So by virtue of this, I don't really enjoy feminist work because it borders on shrill three-quarters of the time.

...Let`s take you back to when you couldn`t work...vote...own property...get an education...inherit anything...be raped by your husband...left by your husband...left pregnant by anybody with no recourse...locked away in a mental institution for not being a "natural" woman...let`s do all that to you and tell you your GENES asked for it..and let`s see how shrill you get.

>I think this is by virtue of my background. I would probably be more gung-ho about women's issues if it had greater bearing on my existence.

...the amount of ignorance it takes to make that statement is mind-boggling.

I come from a long line of women who are as hard as nails.

...so did a lot of Black slaves...it mattered little how hard or soft you were...that was NEVER the issue...

I'm actually rather wimpy compared to my grandmothers and my own mother.

...and being wimpy had even less to do with it..men are hard and they are wimpy...yet they all were guranteed equal rights under the LAW...that was all it was about..not the right of hard and wimpy women to be "free" to be hard and wimpy..but their rights, their equal rights, to be hard or wimpy and get a JOB...and not be discriminated against AS women...hard or wimpy.

So I've been conditioned by that and thus my experience has shown me that the problems with gender differentiation are class based.

...that tells us which class you`re in. They go way beyond class...but since feminist issues have no bearing on your head...why would you bother to inform yourself?

...you mean in all those centuries that women were treated as chattel, there was no "unique" woman till YOU came along?

I apologize in advance if my references to a Christian children's book offends anyone's sensibilities, but the reference fit perfectly.

...indeed...your citing infants and children`s books and then drawing the massive conclusions you do fit all too perfectly.
