This kid makes some really wonderful points. However, he gives too much power to the white Americans. What does he think about African-Americans who have "liberal" opinions? Or Asian-Americans who are "liberal"? Or any other hyphenated American? Why does he seem to imply that all "true" Americans are white?

I know "conservatives" who are just as superficial as the "liberals" he describes here. In fact, it's more a result of our corporate culture that causes most Americans, of many different ethnic origins and political persuations, to be so materialistic, so superficial. Superficiality is not something that is necessarily a characteristic of only one side of the political debate. I've met countless kids from the Mid East (yes, I am using that term instead of the "Arab world" or whatever else one can call that region), citizens of various Mid Eastern states, who are just as superficial as anyone else I've ever met in the States - dreaming about their first Mercedes, getting breast implants, panting after the latest clothing and hair fashions, etc.

I have European and Asian friends who can't understand and complain about the fake smiles, too. Hell, I'm an American, and I hate the fake smiles just as much as anyone else.

Furthermore, what's really "liberal" or "conservative"? These words have different meanings depending on context. Someone who desires greater gun-control in the States could be defined as both liberal and conservative, depending on who that person is talking to.

And what about those "commie liberals" during the McCarthy era? Those people couldn't have been fake, esp. with the threat of getting locked up or deported merely for stating their beliefs. There has to be something genuine about someone who's willing to go to jail simply for saying that they believe something.
