:) My take on the issue is that for all our hoopla about being the descendants of the people that first wrote everything down, we don't much care for it anymore... Some people would say it was because we were persecuted, so we passed things down by oral tradition b/c we were too busy running from the sword to write stuff down; I tend to think that the dank mountains of hillbillydom had more to do with it. Whatever the cause, we supposedly went from writing everything down to talking everything out and you really don't need to know how to spell then... Just say it and hope for the best. People more versed in modern Assyrians' history (like Prof. John Joseph, as one example) would tell you that Atour is not equal to Ashur or whatever you want to call it... But then you'd have to read the book to get the whole spiel. Q --------------------- |
