how young and naive...and how well versed in American movie lore do you have to be to believe America liberates anybody? America puts people to work at minimum wage...offers them the Lottery for hope and inspiration...it uses them, sends them off to war to make their employers even richer...it lays them off when they`re too old to find other work, it denies them health care, pensions, any kind of a decent living wage...but it shows them movies where all is well...and it sends these movies around the world filled with well-oiled muscular beauty, perfect boobs and the Right Stuff and heroes who can bend steel...and the poor chumps, often well-educated, or at least well-graduated, believe it all...and when America comes knocking with its Trojan Horse Democracy..the damn fools open their hearts and let it in. school makes you stupid, but gives you a diploma...religion robs of you of your spirit, but gives you a plastic Jesus and your government has you produce flags to drape your coffin with but your mother will have to buy your coffin. And for this people will dance at their own funerals. --------------------- |
