the problem with education these days is that they are pumping out technocrats like myself with computer, math, science and engineering education which high school prepares us well for, or at least me, but they are ignoring the courses that make people think about world issues, morality and politics... no more reading of the greek classics and discussing what makes a good citizen or a good democracy... and history and polisci is mostly memorizing superficial bullcrap.. because the industries what them to put out good workers and it is to the advantage of those in power not to put out involved citizens... that is saved for those who get elitist education and they are not taught to be good citizens but how to manipulate the system, politics, industry, business, money, etc.. to get richer and more powerful... and talk to anyone under 20 and try to have a conversation about anything that is not pop culture, and you will see just how much trouble our society has coming. --------------------- |
