Actually Jeff is right.. the most common misunderstanding of Darwin's theory is stating it is survival of the strongest... it is NOT. IT IS the theory of natural selection which says that yes in a population the ones with the best survival advantages survive and sometimes that is the strongest but often it is the most adaptable to their environment that survive. That too is an oversimplification since I don't want to write a thesis here but natural selection based on random mutations that are naturally selected by survival advantage is a better way to put Darwin's there than Survival of the Strongest as is so oft misquoted... but it has been a couple of decades since my evolution class and they probably have even better additions to that most observationally verified theory.... made by Darwin before they even knew what DNA genetic material was, but once it was understood then the theory and its mechanisms became even more clear.

As for the dog humping the leg... I think that is just sexual fustration since they mark their terroritory by pissing and show dominance by fighting... but maybe you are right about the humping being dominance for I never heard that.. I just thought they are just disfunctional cause we don't allow them to live in packs where they learn more of sexual behavior of dogs by watching and living in the environs they involved in more.. kind of like man in civilization we are always humping up the wrong leg too cause we are in a disfunction environment just like not living in the pack for a dog and for humanity living in overpopulated circumstances, working at a desk, all the media ,ad, religious, moentary inputs and streses, and all the dog eat dog world may be removed from the small tribe life we most like did most of our evolution in.

But that is all speculation and I am too tired today to try to say anything that makes sense. ;)
