Abandoning campaign smear tactics, Veterans for Bush today dropped a Swift Boat on John Kerry as he left his home, putting an end to his bid for the presidency...the Supreme Court, Justice Thomas writing the majority opinion, said that Bush could remain president till Kerry thought of a suitable response.

Funeral arrangements for Kerry will be announced later in the week.
