...Paul, sit on this and twirl... >..not Jesus, never Jesus...as sterling an example of a person who went to his death for his beliefs, whatever they were, as you`d care to point to. But the religion that was built around him, the one he would rail against all over again if he were here today, stands accused of every heinous crime Jesus spoke out against and then some...a religion cynnically built over his corpse by the very people who murdered him...who never had an understadning of what Jesus was about, before or after and not for 2000 years since. > >In the days before there was much travel, city-states developed their own religions, had their own gods and ethical codes. This includes the Hebrews who were even more insular, pig-ignorant and hapless than most. The first empires were contained within a small enough region that the imposititon of any one dominant religion would still have been familiar enough to those brought under the sway of one God and one king of kings. Later, when empires spread further afield, there was still no attempt made to impose any one god on all the people now paying homage to an emperor. The Assyrians and Babylonians made a point of respecting the gods of others` and accomodating them and taking them within their pantheon. While the subject people and their gods were conquered they were not ground to dust or slaughtered for a god but their own ways and languages and gods were allowed to survive though subjected to what was clearly a vastly superior god and his people who were rewarded with the top position. There was no call to destroy everyone for their wrong or defeated gods. > >The Roman Empire in time was one of the largest and one in which the earlier Republican form of government gave way to a line of insane god-emperors...not represntatives of god on earth but gods ON earth. All it took was for them to adopt Christianity and their insanity was complete. Here was constant forgiveness for continual crimes, but most of all a religion that counselled patience and saw a virtue in total renunciation so that whatever the people were made to suffer by their government could be put down to a divine test of their worthiness for an afterlife...and who would dare argue or be found wanting? > >Till that time the various cultures, each with its own religion, grown from the soil and legends and consciousness of the people themselves, sat easily on their souls...made ^sense^. The separate religious beliefs were OF the people and imposed by no foreign enemy and occupier but came from their own gods, kings and clergy...whether a god of the mountains, forrests, oceans, rivers or desert. The Hebrews it was who first conceived of the damned idea that their god was the ONLY one to be allowed and was a UNIVERSAL god which, to them, didn`t mean that he was known to anyone else or even knowable...growing up from the people and WITH people around the world...as the Hebrews had given birth to him out of their envy and lowly status...but a god who MUST be accepted by everyone else...^^or else^^. And they achieved about the kind of society you`d get with such a religion. > >The Romans used Christianity, derived from the Hebrew religion, as their Imperial equalizer and leveller...under the guise of having people throughout their empire admit the universal ^^inevitableness^^ of yahwe, they imposed obedience to a system that had the god-emperor on earth become the emperor of the heavens...only this emperor of Heaven, unlike Assyrian kings, would allow no one else near him in divinity...this god-emperor would kill people just for clinging to their own religion...he had to be the only one too...or else. > >Christianity spread in the wake of of the Roman armies...where the Roman roads went there, miraculosuly they said, the religion of love ^^took^^. We know from the modern history of other such armies...armies from those provinces of the now shattered Roman empire such as Spain, France (Gaul), Britannia and Portugal (Lusitania)...who went exploring all points of the compass...Africa, Asia, the New World, just how they too ^^spread^^ their Imperial and now Colonial religion...one that would require less soldiers in garrison towns to maintain the distant king or emperor`s wishes...because the rules were instilled in each subject infant and watched over by a clergy of pious snitches ready to cruelly punish and even kill those who strayed ever so slightly or even THOUGHT in wrong ways....killing them if need be and, regretfully, in the name of God in order to at least save their souls..which the church loved..more whacko Christian love. Fantastic punishments and rewards were dangled before subjects of what could happen after death in order to instill conformity and obedience in Life. The destruction of entire cultures and civilizations, wiping out millenia of history and accumulated legends, myths and folklore, as well as the artifacts reflecting now doomed cultures...in other words the very soul of a People, in favor of a religion from a small desert tribe that might as well have been from outer space, was the end result of ^^bringing^^ Christianity to people who never heard of it or needed to. > >The core beliefs of of Judo/Christianity were developed by a small, ungainly, rancourous, cantankerous bunch of Hebrews living in abject misery, surrounded by regal opulence in the cultures and empires dominating them, who were forced to make a virtue of dire necessity...deciding that a god would deliberately do THIS to a people he loved...the beginning of that screwy notion of Love these people would refine till they could kill anyone they hated OR loved...for Love. > >Christianity brought nothing new into the world..not a thing except confirmation of the arival of the Messiah...who oddly enough didn`t do what was promised...instead got himself killed in three short years and left his followers waiting 1000 years for his second coming...the first having been a tremendous flop. After the first 1000 years and still no second coming the clergy decided all believers went to heaven directly after death, no waiting around in their graves and that a further slight modification was called for so that the promised kingdom..which looked like Nineveh in every detail...would be up in the sky instead of on earth. By then people were so god-crazy they didn`t think to question much...which would have gotten them killed anyway. > >Verily you were killed if you refused and you could be killed at any time for doubting...and this was divine Love on earth. > >The belief in a Messiah sent to rescue the Jews only..and then the Christians only, with the rest of Humanity, children too, being the Evil Ones fit to be destroyed, is the core and centerpiece of Christianity...and to be among the really chosen ones you must play at eating human flesh and drinking blood. Regardless of what this does to a child`s developemnt..a child who has to figure out that you`re either serious about such a horrible thing..or ^^only^^ playing at horror. This is a religion and ritual dreamed up by what amounted to the Bowery Boys or Keystone Cops of the ancient world, among the most abject failures of their day, that`s been imposed on people round the world in the most cruel and barbarous fashion, people who were almost all much further down the road of culture and civilized behavior than the Hebrews...who never shared a scrap of it or had a hand in dreaming it up. Yahwe spoke to the Hebrews only and told them to go kill everyone else...that`s the core of the religion of Love...and it`s what the Romans were ony too happy to do. > >Judo/Christianity was for the Jews, who then made it ^^Universal^^ by killing everyone in their universe who would not accept it, starting with their own brothers and sisters. No one outside of that deseret ever heard or thought of such a thing and wherever missionaries tried to go with this message where there wasn`t an army protecting them and threatenning the proposed ^^converts^^..they failed miserably. > >We know what was done to all the cultures who were brought to Christianity...we know the amount of murder and abuse and torture it took to ^^convert^^ people to a religion of ^^Love^^ and it was ALL done through force and violence...certainly every culture has the equivalent of the downtrodden and ineffectual Jews within it, usuallly at the lower socio-economic strata and these might well have been attracted by the promise of an incredible and never heard of before promise if they would join up...people who had every reason to believe their own gods had passed them over....but the majority, the vast and overwhelming majority who heard of this religion of Love at the end of a sword heard of it for the first time from a representative standing at the head of a murderous army..one he would bless regularly for doing the Lord`s work...which was to rob, rape, kill, destroy and enslave...with eternal paradise as the gift in return for totally devastating whole People and their cultures. Those who rejected it or whose conversions were seen as insincere were killed outright..it was their orphans who converted ^^willingly^^...or so they were told....who became overnight strangers to what was now a strange land...once familiar as the back of their hand...the home of their ancestors and all they had built. > >Any religion invented in any obscure corner of the world and imposed through brutal force on people of the ^^universe^^ would not sit well...but couple that with the call to cannibalism and the opportunism that comes of accepting and rejoicing in a murder of an Innocent because it brings you an unheard of ^^Gift^^...the gift of eternal life no less, never mind cheaper gas...is enough to unhinge people completely and in very profound ways..and look at Christianity today..the guiding religious light still for the most brutal and oppressive nations on earth who are still imposing their will on subject people...throughout our ^^universe^^. > >The tree doesn`t grow far from the fruit. --------------------- |
