from aina...where everything is smooth..... [ Post Response ] [ Read Prev Msg ] [ Read Next Msg ] AHRO'S COMMENDABLE EFFORT Posted By: The Lionheart <mabunaya@theplanet.net.au> (203.31.216.219.tigris01.syd.pyr.oktiv.net) Date: Friday, 9 July 2004, at 2:20 a.m. I just finished reading the article posted by the Assyrian Human Rights Organization on AINA FORUM. The appeal is addressed to the newly formed Judicial Committee of the government of Iraq. It is in protest against the Iraqi Government's indifferent attitude, for excluding the names of the Assyrian victims killed during Saddam’s regime. ...never happened. Their names were merely marked down as "Iraqis". There is no systematic effort to leave anyone out. The boys merely equate being Iraqi with being of the majority..which is Muslim and since to them all Muslims must be Arabs from Arabia because that`s where the religion came from...hence to be called simply an Iraqi...means to their tortured minds, being an Arab...which makes them hateful to themselves..and self-loathing is the key to their souls...so they`re partly right. ...in trying to fry Saddam now for the sake of their American Masters, the Iraqi puppet government would be eager to include the names and instances of ALL of his crimes...they`d hardly leave any out. It is a noble thought. AHRO is anxious to know as to why the names of the Assyrians have been omitted, and requests that they be included in the list, as they too are citizens of Iraq. AHRO wants the Iraqi Court to also incriminate Saddam for the ghastly crimes committed against the Assyrians. ..."Assyrians" is merely code for Christians and Iraq has included its PEOPLE`s names wherever applicable..it is your private fantasy that you are Assyrians..it is not a shared one. The petition though poorly presented is worth of praise. Its simple sytle reflects a poor image on the Assyrians for lack of professionalism. The Arabic version is well presented. The English one, well, I hesitate to say, lacking adequacy in presentability needed a little retouch. ...their entire way of thinking needs a massive overhaul..which is just we`re going to do..not overhaul you but get a new model. I write not to condemn. I commend AHRO for their effort. However, it is just that Assyrians, in general, need some sort of control and guidance in order that, in future, such grave issues are handled with more professionalism. ...the problem is the ditziest ones...raised in villages in madrassahs are prone to make these kinds of statements. It`s diffciult to find an "Assyrian" who can chew gum and write complaints at the same time. Could AINA, somehow, be involved and devise a system by which to help edit such highly important announcements before being released? It is crucial that bringing out such documents (statements, declarations, appeals on behalf of the Assyrian public) be adequately presented. I am bringing this matter up because the last message I received from an Assyrian activist was signed as "Servant of Assyria". This meant a lot to me. I hold his name in high regard. ...well, how do you expect a servant from a village to write? We need Assyrians from all walks of life and at all levels to work for the Assyrian cause, regardless of their competence. Yet, such flows of energy sometimes resemble a sudden gush that, although meaning well, may fall short of the desired outcome. ..if you`ll notice you only get the incompetant...there`s a reason for thet..these boys have nowhere else to go to be great and no one else can keep a straight face as they tell you they are real Assyrians especially because they no longer believe in an Assyrian god or religion, but a Jewish one. The kinds of Assyrians you`re calling for do not act in these ways or say such things...sevants do. The few you`ve got who can manage a word or two are either rank opportunists seeking to puff up their resumes...or Christian fanatics...and neither of them have a following worth spit..in fact NO ONE has any following at all or any standing, official or otherwise..every servant from a village can get five more to form an organization and put out statements whose lack of inteligibillity is all pervasive...in other words there IS no "better" way to say such stupid things...and clearing up the speech and grammar would only make them more ludicrous for then people might REALLY understand what is being said whereas now as things stand they can walk away saying..."it couldn`t have meant THAT...I must have misunderstood". Would it be feasible, under the circumstance, for AINA to form a free Voluntary Control Panel for the specific editing of such crucial documents before their release? Originators intending to bring out such important documents may be invited to channel them, before their release, through the proposed VC Panel for editing purpose only. This method will ensure its presentability when released. ...I think that`s a great idea...I have some use of the English language and I`m hard pressed to understand the boys and would ever so much appreciate being able to pick these statements apart even better with less guessing...it would make my work easier. The Initiator of the document, purposing its release will not be legally bound by the VCP’s editing or accept it. He reserves the right to reject it and act independently. ...which of these boys doesn`t? The purpose of the VCP would be to ensure adequacy and presentability of the document before its formal release. A well-presented document needs to meet certain forms of protocol. ...that`s true..it doesn`t have to make sense in the real world...but it should be put down on paper at least in a format and style that makes the point of its pointlessness clearer. The control panel would, of course, be made up of people, well versed in the Assyrian, English and other languages - the more bilinguals and multilinguals, the smaller the size of the panel. It would be advantageous to have an Assyrian lawyer on the panel. ...well...that`s asking a bit much. You suppose any lawyer worth the name has the time to speand reading, let alone understanding and then editing these statements from servants from villages? We hope that the Iraqi Judicial Committee will respond positively to the Assyrian appeal, and compensate their surviving members for their irreplaceable loss. ...they`ll treat them as Iraqis..like they always did. We trust that future communications with government agencies would be well prepared before their release. ..oh I hope so too...I want people to have no doubts of what they`re hearing and reading... I again commend the good efforts of AHRO. God bless Assyria and its supporters. ...they`re there now...fighting to do just that. --------------------- |
