..bless this woman..... Can my priest forgive my sins? ..I`m not sure but this could be born-again stuff... Posted By: Caroline (adsl-68-72-174-60.dsl.chcgil.ameritech.net) Date: Sunday, 19 September 2004, at 1:29 p.m. I was curious to know if those of you who attend HACACE (Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East) believe that our priests can forgive our sins. Here's what CIRED says, principally referencing John 20:21-23: 21Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." 22And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." ...and ask what authority there this is for THIS nonsense? From people who need to wait till ALL the facts are in before they`ll admit the earth is falling apart under us. Why Do We Need a Priest? ...I should hope not. The man who leads the Church in prayer before the Altar when the Qurbana is offered is called a "priest" (kahna). This is because he offers to God in the name of the Church and in the place of Christ the one sufficient sacrifice (Christ's sacrifice on the Cross) for the pardon of debts, the remission of sins, and new life in the Kingdom of Heaven. ...the "pardon of debts"? You mean Jesus can wipe out student loans? But there is the core belief right there..the one Pean treat like it was atomic waste and won`t go near. These people use human sacrifice as a way of getting GOODS! Things haven`t changed for them since Jews were driving out the scapegoat from their village, heaped with their sins to die and get them off the hook. This is what is so despicable about this religion for oportunists..from an early age they teach children to look dor ways out...ways in which you can substitute a goat or Jesus for you at the altar. This one sick creed. He acts as the "mouth" of the Church, the Body of Christ, which is making the offering. He also acts as the "mouth" of God when he speaks forgiveness to the congregation and bids them to receive Christ in the Sacraments. ...get lost! Andy is the MOUTH of God? I`ve met assholes of god but NEVER his mouth. After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples and said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you. . . . If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven him.” (John 20:21,23) This vital function of proclaiming forgiveness the priest does in the name of Christ. ..of its CRUCIAL! My god what we DO without it??? I for one can`t leave the HOUSE without a good dose! But the priest is not just a priest. He is different from priests in the Old Testament in important ways. Away from the Altar he is usually referred to as a "presbyter", or "elder", (qashisha). In this role he fulfills the duties of a pastor, leading the congregation and administering its affairs. He is also an "apostle" (shlikha), that is, sent by Christ through the bishop to speak authoritatively for him to the Church and to serve both him and the congregation. ..so THAT`S where, "toombanookh shlikha" came from. Those bastards haven`t changed a bit. We need priests in the way a body needs a mouth to speak. ..I need one like need a hemmorhoid to play tennis with. We need presbyters in the way that a family needs elders to give wise counsel. ..you need to see a doctor. We need apostles in the way that an army needs a chain of command to receive authoritative directions from headquarters. ...you need a bath the way Aprim needs a life. Usually one man holds all these offices in a local parish. His role is vital, not only because he presides over the Church's ceremonies, but because the Church, as the Body of Christ, speaks to God through him, and God speaks to the Church through him. ...the line`s dead. ...how anyone doesn`t see what this stuff does to a developing brain..never mind human personality...ah well. --------------------- |
