From the above quotes we realize that the Israelited did evil in the eyes of God, and God punished them by sending the Assyrians.

In other words the Assyrians were fullfilling the will of God (they did what God told them to do), while it was the Israelites were the ones that sinned and turned against God.

...and Ahur was sent to hell by these people...for yahwe...Assyrians my arse!
