Better Mathematical Model -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beth Suryoyo Assyrian (Othuroyo) Forum -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Written by Paul Younan on 02 Aug 2004 19:08:19: As an answer to: Re: Weak analysis. The question is ... written by Tiglath on 02 Aug 2004 14:49:00: Khizmie Tiglath, Let's take the example you mentioned of pollution deaths in California and find out how we can create a more accurate model for Assyrian deaths via sanctions. ...before we get into it let me just say that the debate was won by Tiglath long ago...but getting you ALL to count angels on the head of a pinhead...is just icing on the cake... As you may know, California is a very large state with a large variety of terrain and climate. From desert in the south to fertile mountainous ranges and valleys in the north, it is quite varied. As you may know, most Assyrians live in the Central Valley region of northern California which is bound by the Sierra-Nevada mountain range. Compared to Los Angeles in the south, the quality of air in northern California is pristine (I've been to both.) ...I know whatĒs coming and youĒre wrong...the air in the Central Valley is polluted in the extreme...diesel tractors and other farm equipment does not have to meet any pollution standards..several recent studies focused on the respiratory problems of Migrant workers..a far larger population without pristine air than your Assyrians..this gets none of you anywhere...it boosts out point that you fiddle while all around you your people die like flies..ten today or one...two tomorrow or twenty, it hardly matters...what counts is the overall numbers and they show you leaving..as every ONE of you who is having this silly debate DID. Now, if 90% of Assyrians in California live in the central valley region to the north, while only 10% live in the highly polluted Los Angeles area: (1) If 6,000 Californians die every year from air pollution.... (2) If Assyrians make up 1% of California's population.... (3) If 90% of Assyrians live in the central valley, while only 10% live in Los Angeles... That means that only 10% of 1% of California's 6,000 people who die of air pollution MIGHT be Assyrian.....which translates to 6 Assyrians. ..if you are going to claim you know how many of which of you died 800 years ago because it nsays so in your own propaganda..if you are going to claim a jew flew to heaven..then your minds have been polluted enough...no need to leave Los Angeles. Notice that if we were to simply divide 6,000 by 1% (the theoritical percentage of Assyrians in California), we would get 60. But in fact, when we take into account that most Assyrians in California live in relatively clean air, the number drops to a potential 6. ...as we all know statistics is a game that can suit any purpose..we also know that if Christians attack a Muslim country and kill Muslims by the hundreds of thousands they will kill JUST enough Christians in greater numbers than No Muslims army that attacked No Iraq and killed NO Iraqis. Christians are killing Muslims..and they are killing Christians..that should have been enough of a scray prospect that you would NOT have voted for Bush...what can we do about it now??? Why, we can argue about pollution in California and feel a WHOLE lot better. What you need to do Khizma is to find out which parts of Iraq demographically have suffered the most during the sanctions and what the Assyrian Christian population is in those areas. ...thatĒs as close to an obsecenity as one could imagine...are you a ghoul or what? Will it matter if it was one or ten+ Yes, apparently...because you canĒt win hearts and minds with one. Paul...you are the saddest person IĒve ever known...who was pleased himself. ...what you also forget is that you were all willing to risk this on the hope that the United States would provide the Kurds with the cover to save your sorry asses...it ddnĒt have to be that way...just think what a chance you took...and how much you owe the Kurds for being used by Americas...then consider that you further placed your hopes on how much money you could get out of Christians to send back home...and on Sargon Lewie not stealing any of it...and it not being stolen or wasted when it got there...or what those people would buy..or what would be stolen from them in the general lawlessness that has been Iraq for years...all these risks you were willing to take..tell me, would any of you have risked your children...yourselves, on such flimsy "aid"? ...The truth is you were so eager to get Muslim Assyrians killed you tripped all over yourselves and left the fate of your dear people to chance..which of you, besides me...would risk the well being of your families on Assyrian Help? Putzes. ...If we brought 27,000 Chritian children bodies and dumped them on Aprim...you think heĒd change his head? HeĒd just tell you that bad things happen...and remind us all of 980 Ad and Pasha Bob and how awful THAT was...so we need to revenge ourselves...and these children were worth the price of SAVING them. You are an embarrassment that we are stuck with for some time yet to come..but you will be gone. Then if you apply the same model above to those figures, you probably will have a far more accurate model that will be closer to the true reality. ...what "reality" do numbers provide? Even my model is simplistic in that it doesn't take into account other factors such as: (1) genetic predisposition to lung diseases among those 6 Assyrians who might have died every year (2) Did they smoke? (3) Did they have access to quality health care? (4) Were they financially poor, etc. ...donĒt forget the ones who walk into walls and trip over each other. It's not a simple thing, but if we are to claim numbers we need to put some more thought into it to make our argument a scientifically valid estimate, at least the best we can possibly make it. ...lord, lord this stupid. --------------------- |
