We already know that the majority of the descendants of the ancient Assyrians converetd initially to Christianity and then the majority of them convereted to Islam and became Muslim Assyrians in Iraq.

What I find surprising is that Islam unlike Christianity is more religously AND culturally accepting of their ancient ancestors.

I mean Islam calls Jews, and Christians the people of the book. Islam has accepted that Abraham and Jesus are also great prophets and their worshippers should be respected.

Meanwhile culturally Islam has accepted that their culture dates back from the ancient Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian and Arab civilisations.

The Christian Assyrians meanwhile show disrespect and contempt for the prophets of their sister religions but culturally they deny that the descendants of the ancient Sumerians, Babylonians and Assyrians went on to establish the Arab civilisation of the 14th century.
