Now we see what it takes to rule over religiously and culturally diverse and often antagonistic people who have no history of pluralistic parliamentary rule...like we benefitted from before 1776. What does democracy mean among a People divided and at each other's throats? Even in America we had violence under democracy. There was a field known for duelling out by the first Congress where a hundred duels were fought in the first years of our democracy. It seems we learned it from the British and German officers only we didn't have duels over honor and women...we killed each other over politics. Not only Alexander Hamilton was killed in a duel, so was his son. It was not easy getting Europeans to take their losses and differences calmly..to remain civil when they lost an argument or election...it took a long time to make Americans out of the disparate groups who came here. We're trying to force this on people who have no such advantages as we had..or we say we want that. The truth is that we want a free hand to disrupt and control those people and our own population. The pundits on the airwaves are either deluded or all lying through their teeth. We heard all this before and no doubt will hear it again...soon. No government in Iraq will last if it opposes American interests...no matter how "democratic" it is. Chile freely elected a Communist and we had him killed...elections and democracy mean nothing...they too are a smoke screen...like religion. It seems you can be "free" only so long as you do what America wants. Freely elect a Communist or Abortionist or Hottentot and we'll be all over you. It is greed and power that drives the American engine...but it needs disguising, that's all this fuss has been about on the airwaves every night for the last four years. --------------------- |
