I have a friend who worked in refugee resettlement for years. He told me stories from the Assyro-Chaldean refugees that were astonishing, and true. Apparently there are about 1000 Assyrian/Chaldean refugees in Thailand, trying to get into Australia or the US. Several more thousand reside in Greece. In both countries, being illegal immigrants, they are subjected to unimaginable hardships. One family, in Thailand, had to pretend that they were tourists for a whole year to avoid being arrested... so many stories...so many countries...
