...I'm a great believer in Law and due process. I know it's "man-made" and while that's been a big part of its problem, the "man" part...Morality has been equally a man-made-GOD-made thing and far far more destructive of human life and development because it wraps itself in ignorance and pious sanctimony.

...It's instructive that the Nazis needed to change the Laws of their Weimar Republic...and good laws they were too, not their Christian "morals", before they could get into full human drag as Nazis and commit their best crimes.

...They saw no need to change a syllable of the Bible..that grand "moral" guide...that could be left intact..indeed they could go right on using it to bless their crimes...because it was "of god" and concerned itself with the Fascist's best friend..."evil".

...But they couldn't have done those things without changing the Law...HUMAN law that has no thought of evil...not even of EVIL...just Law and due process and when we can, of Justice too.

...Same thing in America now. Bush has no need to modify the bible to justify Iraq and the murder of innocent children....because innocent children and adults too were murdered ALL THE TIME in that bloody book, not for Laws they broke, but for being "evil". Bush knew he had to change our LAWS, because as they stood and attack against Iraq was illegal...he had to damage the Constitution and trounce International Law to get away with these crimes against Humanity. And, oddly enough though not surprising, he and the rest of them now ELEVATE their bible as the source and inspiration of their crimes...using it to BLESS themselves as they murder.

In the end Human Law is what stands between us and total, Biblical mayhem...the Law civilizes us, the Bible institutionalizes and elevates our greatest cruelties. It NEVER has to change...not in 3000 years, to justify barbarity of an equal scale to the Times it was conceived in. Human Law has grown and evolved and become more merciful and Just...the bible is the same bloody book and friend to Tyrants and Cutthroats it has always been. And DON'T tell me the "Roman Handbook to Conquest", otherwise known as the New Testicle is the "book of love" either. That sort of "love" killed millions more.
