...what if people decided there was only ONE tree allowed and that the existence of other trees was an affornt to their Monotreeism? Would they welcome other trees? Could they allow them to live? If they chose the Oak, wouldn't all Pine trees become repugnant to their sight? How could they claim the Oak was the only REAL tree worth worshipping and yet allow all those Cherry and Willow and Fir trees to exist? Wouldn't the existence of other trees make a mockery of their beliefs? Wouldn't their children be confused growing up where other trees provide shade and fruit and branches for birds?

...If anything is clear, it's that there are many gods and there always have been. When we accepted that reality long ago the world was a far less murderous place. You have to dissociate yourself from reality in rather dangerous ways to insist there is really only ONE god and he is yours...how, then, can you NOT see other gods and the people of other gods as threats to your's? How can you NOT hate them for not only being wrong in themselves but casting aspersions at and creating doubts about your most cherished and whacky belief?

What was the Communist movement but the attempt to win a little freedom and more bread by a bunch of poor people? We wound up hating farmers and peasants and used their "ungodliness" to fuel our hate and fear. We're doing the same with Islam...though they have a god. But we're making their god into a monster and that will only result in us becomming monsters in dealing with them.

And we have. The treatment of the people of Iraq and the mental contortions and outright lies we're asked to hop though will divorce us from our humanity and make us strangers to sanity...we're well on our way. Mass hysteria has gripped America and our children will pay...the modern world is at war with children...we are killing our seed.
