Dear Maggie and Jeff, Fraydon Aturaya did more than that. Tired or trusting the British and French to fulfill their numerous promises he actually devised a plan that he pitched to Stalin. The plan called for the Soviet Union to move into the Middle East, liberate it from the West forming an Assyria nation which would be ruled by us becoming a Soviet satellite nation. The plan was ver daring indeed and could've carved up the Middle East and renamed Iraq its original name. Perhaps Stalin knew what our hard headed people were like and decided that it may lead to a Russian quagmire in the Middle East with continued Western interference. Anyway after Stalin and the West defined their spheres of influence Stalin had Fraydon arrested and executed in order to ensure that the plan would never see the light of day. Dr Fraydon was a very interesting nationalst. --------------------- |
