...make that "Out Of Mind" as well. I canīt believe how ecstatic and downright maudlin Christians are over their ability to cast a meaningless vote in these meaningless American elections being staged in Iraq. But then I always believed that it is precisely the meaninglessness of things that attracts "Assyrians"..the more meaningless the greater their enthusiasm..cause itīs a safe bet...what do they really risk? Nothing. Our second favorite scholar, Ivan "GOOD NIGHT" Kakovitch, has a bit in which he complains to the Iraqi ambassador that it isnīt his fault he was born in Russia...he doesnīt quite explain how itīs the ambassadorīs fault either, but his implication is clear. Seems at a meeting this Ambassador wondered aloud how a man born in Russia...educated in Europe and now living in the United States..who has a Russian name to boot...expects to vote in an IRAQI election. Kakovitchīs answer is replete with all the national crybabyness we possess...as a nayshun. He replies that it isnīt HIS fault he was born in Russia etc. but the Iraqi governmentīs fault for doing whatever it did ages go to "force" his family to run...assuming any of them were ever from Iraq. Okay...you could give some credence to his idea if all other Christians left Iraq..if they ALL ran for their lives and if today there were none left. But thatīs hardly the case. We saw recent evidence that Christian Assyrians and Muslim Assyrians live as neighbors and get along..and always did get along, just fine. The extremists out in the villages with no schooling but village idiot priest education were the ones bellowing about how the country belongs to the church. Many Christians left Iraq because they participated in silly ass rallies and political clubs who talked a little too loudly about how Iraq was really Assyria and Assyrians can only be Christians...you do the math. This is basically Sedition and no government will tolerate it...ask Abraham Lincoln. So...while it isnīt Ivanīs fault that he wasnīt born in Iraq...someone in his family made the decision to leave...and we must surmise that they had their own reasons to do so...but since so many Christians remained and do to this day...it canīt have been a case of mass and total forced removal. We can only guess that Papa Kakovitch moved the family because he couldnīt get a good nightīs rest...or for better opportunities, or possibly because the same sublime idiocy the son displays came from the family bloodline..in other words old Papa did something that made it imperative he relocate the family...AND change their name. It may not be Ivanīs fault....but sure as hell isnīt Iraqīs doing either. --------------------- |
