Although she is another mediocrity. ...whew! That's a relief. I just couldn't imagine any circumstances under which Eden would even read Aprim's "book"...let alone have anything to do with it. But I can well imagine Aryan Ishaya doing so. That is one SOURpuss woman! Years ago, after the Ashurbanipal Monument had been installed, the San Jose group asked me to come give a talk. After I spoke, Aryan... who'd been lowering in the corner all through it, wanted to know what I was going to do for our "sisters in Turkey". I replied that I never knew I had sisters in Turkey...did she? She went on, as they all do, to tell the gathering about the Assyrians suffering in their Diapers, or something..and how it was immoral not to spend every dime there was to help them...that "wasting" it on silly Art was a sin...never mind that it's because of our ancient Art that we received any favorable press at all in the modern era. I said by all means...let's take up a collection, starting with Aryan and I'd donate a sculpture for them to raise funds with...as I did with Narsai's "put-a-roof-on-a-hut-after-you've-blown-the-occupants-to-bits" dinner and fundraising(a chariot sculpture that brought the AIDS group ten grand). The woman has no humor. She went on in this vein, joined by some other's when a young man chimed in to ask why they were so pissed at us for what we had managed to do...the first such attempt in 2500 years...why didn't THEY get something going and help whomever they wanted to? This is typical of our "activists"...they could give a shit about their sisters in Turkey..it just sounds good to talkalotaboutit. What consumes them is NOT "national politics" but JEALOUSY and then ENVY and then finally ANGER...because any Assyrian's succes DETRACTS from them somehow...shows them up for the measely things they actually manage to DO...it also raises the bar much higher for what we can expect from "activists"...be they sculptors, musicians or leaders. Aryan, like so many others, MUST maintain a level of mediocrity in our community solely for the purpose of making it easier for herself to "shine". me...I can't WAIT to be surpassed...by all the Assyrian kids coming up who want to do it better..and believe me, it CAN be done better...much better. That's why I went after Nimrod and Atour Golani and Bejan's ass...no WAY were they going to make the things they did become the norm...no way was kissing THEIR asses going to be the only way to be "Assyrian" any longer. That's not what this class of "patriots" and "writers" and "hysterians" and "leaders" wants to see happen though...right now all they have to do is wake up, roll over, pick a topic...and be GREAT!!! And if you point out their pants are on their head...YOU are an "enema of Assyria". --------------------- |
