The best thing I can do for women is stay out of their way...my business is men...like me. If I want to help Blacks I have to help WHITES...with or without their desire. I don't belong in a Black activist group...they can handle themselves just fine.

..the greatest lesson to me in life came from Feminism...not because of what it taught me about women and their struggles...though that was profound..but because it showed that not even something as deeply ingrained as sex roles are "natural"...and if you can change those, you can change ANYTHING.

For one long, awful and wonderful night, back in 1970...my lady faire kept me up till dawn reading me the riot act...she'd just finished Simon De Beauvior's "The Second Sex". I made a feeble attempt to "defend" myself but gave it up in the onrush of undeniable facts she hurled at me...till I was a queivering mass of jelly...the next morning I started putting myself back together by reading the same book...and then moving on to a whole host of other's,...as well as subscribing to Ms Magazine which is the only magazine I ever read cover to cover, every single issue for it's first groundbreaking and glorious three years.

Women's liberation meant MEN's Liberation as well...and was I ever glad to get out of THAT prison!
