...foreign missionaries did the same thing in Urmia right before the First World War and elsewhere they went to "do god's work". It's too damn dangerous trying to convert Muslims..or Hottentots for that matter...it's much easier to convert CHRISTIANS to European Corporate Christianity...and the same thing happened...whereas our own Christian community knew how to get along in their Muslim countries and had been doing so for ages...these European salesmen wanted a prominant sign of their presence and success...what did they care how they angered the local "pagans and heathens"...and again...our people, never mind of which sect...caught hell for it. I'm telling you...this god business is killing us. Once, when we were all cannibals and scared of the moon and sun and water...religion might have been useful in using our fear and superstitious beliefs to get us to wipe our asses...or eat with a fork instead of a finger...but our minds and capacities have increased way beyond that time..and yet we tie our children to the same sort of "morality" invented in them dark and dank, hoary old days....we are as ignorant in some ways as we ever were...and kept so by our beliefs in ridiculous gods and angels and here-afters...yet at the same time we have nuclear fission and warplanes and methods of destruction far beyond what them Hebrews or Romans possessed...we have the physical and mental capacity to make a paradise on earth...but our emotional attitude towards death and eternity is of another time...a time of hell and demons and all powefull gods very little different than any Tyrant the world has ever seen... --------------------- |
