Our Generation, Emil and I, was apart of what I like to call "Sneta min koolit liba". During the first Gulf War my, white not hispanic, "place of birth" went from a Disney Cartoon/I Dream of Jeannie location to "Where? Baghdad? Oh shit, this fucker's on TV 24/7 and we've come to fear and hate him!!!". An interesting time for young Assyrian minds to develop. How great to see that war being a sub-plot, a backdrop, to something even scarier. Coming out of the closet in one of the least open minded cultures ever. It's Wonder Years with a Queer Voice-Over. Better yet, It's Charlie Sheen in Platoon coming out to his platoon in the middle of an attack. Can you imagine the love and support? A story that does need to be read... told... FUCK IT... seen! --------------------- |
