Two different set of circumstances. As U.S. emerged as superpower after World War Two old colonists knew soon or later U.S. will be humping/raping them. And in order to avoid and protect their capital/investment old colonists/U.S. became ally and copartner. On the other side, both U.S. and old colonists felt threaten by the SOCIAL MOVEMENTS that were supported and fuled by both CCCP and CHNA and we have seen few conflicts between these two sides. And thats how U.S. entered into South East Asia. The circumstances after world war two and u.s. emerging as superpower were different than 1990's-Iraq war. During 1990's Iraq war, U.S. was and is the only superpower and there was no "red scare" like in the old days but instead a new prodigy emerged to fight this new wave of occupation and that is where we are right now. This phenomenon wouldn't have had legs and stand on its own if the CCCP and CHINA Social Movements didn't die on us but unfortunately it is too late and must live with what we have until another new prodigy replaces the other one. --------------------- |
